The Phuentsholing Township Development Project (PTDP), initially known as the ALDPT in Phuentsholing, Bhutan, has been rebranded as the Phuentsholing Township Development Project (PTDP). This ambitious initiative is designed to transform the urban landscape of Phuentsholing, establishing it as a model township in Bhutan. The project has secured substantial financial backing, with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) providing loans and grants, while Druk Holding and Investments (DHI) contributes the remaining equity.

On November 4, 2022, a strategic partnership was formed with Kalika Construction Private Ltd, Nepal, leading to the formation of the Kalika-Rigsar Joint Venture (JV). The JV was awarded the second package CW2A Project.

A major challenge encountered in the current project is the simultaneous execution of multiple activities within the same area, including the installation of sewage lines, water supply lines, roads, walkways, and pedestrian bridges. This complexity was effectively addressed through detailed task-level project planning, precise scheduling, and the chronological sequencing of each activity to ensure smooth and efficient execution.

Project Scope:

• Development of 7 km of concrete-paved roads and street networks, including walkways.
• Design and construction of a water treatment plant with a capacity of 3 million liters per day (MLD).
• Design and construction of a sewage collection and conveyance system.
• Design and construction of a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 3 MLD with SCADA system.
• Design and construction of a solid waste treatment facility with a processing capacity of 15 tonnes per day.
• Installation of electrical and telecommunication networks across a 66-hectare area.

This project plays a critical role in flood protection and land development along the Amochhu River, significantly enhancing infrastructure resilience in the region. It represents a major milestone for Rigsar Construction Pvt. Ltd., reflecting their commitment to advancing modern infrastructure development in Bhutan.
